When glory shone through the dark skies and midnight was brighter than dawn, then Bethlehem saw its true Morning arise; this is the day he was born. The shepherds believed when they heard the news of a child in the night: the city of David was home to its Lord and the powers of evil took flight. But daylight was turned into gloom, and brightness had gone from the sky, when Christ was uplifted to torture and doom: this is the day he must die. The fishermen who were his friends denied him and quarrelled and fled; but soon they will stare at the marks on his hands- he is risen, alive form the dead! Come shepherds, come fishermen all, from fields and from shores of the sea, come northerners, southerners, come at his call; this is the day to be free! For Christ has come fishing for you; there's none that he will not receive. Since he is our Shepherd and Fisherman too, let today be the day you believe!
