Gerig, Reginald

REGINALD ROTH GERIG (b. 1919) was born in Grabill, Indiana. The picture shown here is from 1959. He received his B.Mus from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, and a Masters Degree from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. A member of the Wheaton College faculty for 35 years he is Professor of Piano Emeritus. Back in 1959 he convinced the not yet dry behind the ears, Hope Office Manager, George H. Shorney, Jr., that the company should have a line of keyboard publications and that his PIANO PRELUDES ON HYMNS AND CHORALES (Code No. 251) was the ideal collection to begin such a series. The volume, a collection of service and recital literature by composers past and present, is now in it's eighth printing and still going strong as is Mr. Shorney. The keyboard catalog now lists 135 folios. In 1974 Mr. Gerig authored his definitive text book FAMOUS PIANISTS AND THEIR TECHNIQUE. This book is also still available from the publisher Robert B. Luce, Inc., Fairfield, CT.
