Cindy Ovokaitys

CINDY OVOKAITYS. Having an interest in both singing and music composition, Cindy has taken over 20 years of vocal instruction along with musical theatre and opera workshops at Mount Mary College, voice and music classes at Concordia University, and theory and songwriting classes at the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music. She has attended the Gospel Music Association's Music Camp in the rockies, the Nashville Songwriter's Association Composer's Symposium, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod's Songwriter's Conference, several of Joseph Martin Institute's Composer Symposiums, and a Henry Leck Choral Directing Seminar. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Concordia University, Chicago.

Her compositional mentors have included such accomplished composers as Joseph Martin, Stan Pethel, Robert Sterling, Ed Kee, J. Paul Williams, Joel Raney, and others.

Vocally, Cindy has had the privilege of singing with the Great Lakes Opera Company, under the direction of the late Charles Koehn and his wife, Joanne Pruitt Koehn. With them, Cindy held the lead of Hansel in Engelbert Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel," Denise in Jacques Offenbach's "The Lantern Marriage," Miss Pepper in David Wood's "The Gingerbread Man," and the title role in Rogers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella." In 2009, Cindy enjoyed performing at New York's Carnegie Hall in Celebration of Shawnee Press's 70th Anniversary under the direction of Timothy Seelig, Greg Gilpin, Mark Hayes and Joseph Martin.

Cindy currently serves as the Children's Choir and Musical Director for Hales Corners Lutheran Church in Wisconsin. She also sings solos and is in a number of choirs there and in her community.

Cindy is a member of ASCAP and also serves as a Music and Arts Missionary for Artists in Christian Testimony based out of Brentwood, Tennessee.

Outside of music, Cindy has an extensive resume in the business telecommunications industry where she enjoys conducting presentations and helping others. She is married to Paul and has a son, Andy. As a family, they enjoy activities such as playing board games together, going bicycling, entertaining others, taking fun vacations, participating in church activities, and playing with their dog, Caramel, a Cavalier King Charles/Cocker Spaniel mix. Above all, they love their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and enjoy walking with Him and growing in His grace.
