DAVID W. MUSIC (b. 1949) is Professor of Church Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, and music director at the First Baptist Church of Bedford, Texas. He previously served on the music faculty at California Baptist College in Riverside, and as minister of music at Highland Heights Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee. Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, he earned both the M.C.M. and D.M.A degrees from Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He is the former editor of THE HYMN, the journal of The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, and he co-authored SINGING BAPTISTS: Studies in Baptist Hymnody in America and Handbook to the Baptist Hymnal. David is currently working on A Collection of Source Readings in Hymnology to be published by Scarecrow Press. His most recent publication (1999)co-authored with Dr. Milburn Price, is entitled A SURVEY OF CHRISTIAN HYMNODY (Hope Publishing Co. Code No. 8017)
