GEORGE F. REYNOLDS (b. 1927) was born in New York City. After working at Ryback Organ Company for seven years, he received both his B.A. and his Master's degree in music education at New York University. He started teaching at the Baldwin Public Schools while pursuing his degrees, and in 1968 he became the first choral and band director at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, NY. In 1971 he was promoted to full professor and head of the music department there. He was well-loved by his community for his contributions to the arts through his compositions for area parks, theaters, churches and schools. His services merited him the Outstanding Educator of America award in 1971. He also became coordinator of the Adirondack Choral Vocal Workshop in 1974, participating as a composer (ASCAP), educator, sponsor and coordinator.
Besides his musical pursuits, George was an outstanding member of the Rotary Club, having receiving their highest distinction, the Paul Harris Fellow Award, in 1985. He also took an interest in exploring the future of computerized music. He passed away in his home on February 28, 1986, leaving behind his wife Lenore and two daughters, Lynne Gollands and Kim Reed.
