MICHAEL SAWARD (b. 1932) was, for many years, Canon Treasurer of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. He began writing hymns in 1962 and has, so far, produced over 100 texts. His works appear in over 80 books worldwide. A broadcaster, author and journalist, he served for many years on the Church of England's General Synod and has written a dozen books. He was Words Editor of HYMNS FOR TODAY'S CHURCH and for SING GLORY. He is a Director of Jubilate Hymns. His hymns "Christ Trimphant, Ever Reigning" and "Baptized in Water" are now known and sung all over the world. Both can be found in Hope's new hymnal WORSHIP & REJOICE (2001). All of his hymns are available in the United States and Canada from Hope Publishing Company. He lives in retirement with his wife Jackie in London.
