Come to us, O Christ of glory, crown of Israel's royal line, keystone of salvation's story; come in sovereign love divine. Bring to earth your reign unending, righting deep and ancient wrong, all our weary discord mending, turning clamor into song. Come to us, O Christ, and call us, as the prophets did of old, from vain things that so enthrall us, selfish wants that turn love cold. Wake us to the needs of others, through us may they know your care; save us from the fear that smothers hope to risk and faith to dare. Come to us, O Christ, and see us sorely hindered by our sin; let your grace and mercy free us so that new life may begin. Help us share in this world's healing, souls and bodies, minds and hearts, each to each your love revealing, binding up the broken parts. Come to us, O Christ, draw near us; dwell within our hearts anew. By your longed-for coming cheer us, let your peace light all we do. As a human mother bore you, use our lives; be born in them. Here we bring ourselves before you; let us be your Bethlehem.
