As for our world we lift our hearts in praise, for gifts unnumbered from our childhood days, now, in God's Name stir our compassions; give us eyes to see the orphaned child, the starved and refugee, the sick and lame: for sad and needy children everywhere, for this our world, we lift our hands in prayer. As for our world we lift our hearts in praise, the joy of home with lights and hearth ablaze, the welcome plain; so we recall the homeless and the cold, the destitute, the prisoners, and the old who lie in pain: for all who grieve, for all who know despair, for this our world, we lift our hands in prayer. As for our world we lift our hearts in praise, recount the blessings that our life displays in every part, so look in mercy, Lord, where shadows rest, the ravaged homes by want and wars oppressed, the sick at heart, with burdens more than we were meant to bear: for this our world, we lift our hands in prayer. As for our world we lift our hearts in praise, the love of God on all our works and ways, so we commend all those who loveless live and hopeless mourn, who die at last uncomforted, forlorn, without a friend; who own no Saviour's love, no Father's care, for this our world we lift our hands in prayer. As for our world we lift our hearts in praise, so with our songs of thankfulness we raise this ageless plea, that darkened souls who have no song to sing may find in Christ the living Lord and King he came to be, and in his cross and resurrection share: for this our world we lift our hands in prayer.
