A parent's heart will feel the hurt each time a child is bruised, and God was weeping like a child when Jesus was abused. Which one of us would give a child a stone in place of bread? What kind of God would be content as Jesus cried and bled? The will of God is just and good but human choice can kill; rejected love endured the cross and earth and heaven kept still. We meet our Maker at the wound exchanging broken bread; we share our grief with one who knows the pain when blood flows red. Although we miss God's first design as Jesus dies alone, God's final will cannot be lost; love rolls away the stone.
