In hope our hearts rejoice, the hope of Christ's appearing; by faith we see his throne, and know his hour is nearing when he shall come to reign, his joy at last complete; all glory round his head, all foes beneath his feet. He comes to claim his own on that long-promised morrow, to wipe earth's tears away, and banish sin and sorrow. Then we shall see his face, and know as we are known, set free to serve our God, and worship him alone. Now all the good we know is marred by sin and sadness; on earth we only sip God's fount of heavenly gladness. What, then, shall be our bliss, in unimagined spheres to drink eternal joys through everlasting years! And so we walk by faith the path his love ordains us; we trust his sovereign grace; his Word of truth sustains us. "O come, Lord Jesus, come!" we pray with heart and voice: till that triumphant hour in hope our hearts rejoice.
