Unite us, Lord, this day: Strengthen the faith we share; Teach us how we should pray, And what it costs to care: And how our stricken world may find Your way of hope for humankind. Your body, by its scars, Warns us how hard our task; No magic rules the stars, Or gives us what we ask: Yet prayers, we know, has power to move Whatever thwarts a work of love. So, drawn from every race, We ring the world with praise, Each in our time and place, And our accustomed ways: And offer you, in all our lands, Our thankful hearts and willing hands. Then let our song of joy All other music drown, And praise itself employ A language all its own: To God, whom earth and heaven adore, Be glory now, and evermore.
