As the moon is to the sun, shining with a borrowed light was the humble servant, John, shedding daylight through the night. John the Baptist jumped with joy long before his natal day. He was not to be the Christ, but he came to point the way. John was pulled from wilderness like a moth is drawn to flame. When the servant reached the shore, to the river Jesus came. Jesus knelt and bowed his head, asked the servant to baptize. John would smile as heaven said, "Let my Star of Day arise!" John was not the sacred Sun, still he shown like stars above. Gleaming, he made known to us Jesus Christ, the dawn of love. We, like John, are born of fire even in this world today. May our God shine light on us that we may give love away.
