Underneath the present suffering lies God's deep desire to heal not the surface, cut and bleeding, not the conscious fault we feel, but the child, still lost and longing, looking for the truth revealed. Underneath the present suffering lie the layers of our shame: parents hurting, children hurting- on it goes, as if a game; but the love of Christ, redeeming, comes our inner child to claim. Underneath the present suffering lie the wine and bread of grace, bruised and broken in the giving, love expressed in time and space, till the child, once lost and longing, finds the Spirit's full embrace.
