Refrain: In a stranger's guise, Christ meets us on the road. In the breaking of the bread we recognize our Lord. We walked in a dream, fleeing from a Roman cross, but a stranger came who asked about our loss. On the open road, still we sought the promised reign, and the stranger heard our words of hope and pain. We asked him to stay. Day was fading. Night drew on. So the stranger stayed until our fear was gone.
