What faith can feel we cannot see, but in the gray of dusk or dawn, we claim our human dignity, and choose, by faith to follow on. The choice to live by faith is made in spite of specters from the past; and when life seems a grim charade, we trust that love, at least, will last. But if we crucify the good within ourselves, or in a friend, the one who wept upon the wood is murdered as he seeks to mend. Yet what cannot be reconciled, when trust falls down and fails to rise, is felt by One who lost a child, but knows the love that never dies. The best is never really gone, although we feel it may be so; from deepest midnight comes the dawn, when every fear will be let go.
