DOUGLAS FREDERICK MEARS (b. 1954) is a composer and arranger who has published pieces both sacred and secular for handbell, organ, and chorus. He earned his bachelor's and master's degree from The Juilliard School. Mears also holds a doctorate in organ performance from the Catholic University of America and a doctorate in choral conducting form the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with renowned conductor, Donal Neuen. Today, Mears is the artistic director and conductor of the Fairfax Choral Society, a respected musical group with which he's been associated since 1980. Mears also serves as the director of music at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethseda, Maryland.
