God hears the children crying in hunger, pain, and fear, while able ones, denying them lives of childlike cheer, ignore the sounds of weeping, shut out the haunting cries, their ease and comfort keeping as mournful voices rise. God hears the cries of hunger as children starve and thirst, while full folk-old and younger- rush to the table first. To Ishmael and Hagar- heart grieved by their lament- God gave a drink of water, to them an angel sent. God hears the cries of violence in city and on plain, the awful, deaf'ning silence of children fallen slain. A saddened Jesus entered Where Jairus' child lay dead; upon her corpse he centered and raised her from her bed. God hears the children suffering as they their sickness bear while politicians, hovering, withhold much needed care. The boy, destroyed by seizures as scribes and crowd stood by, left demons to their leisure 'till Jesus heard his cry. God hears the children singing hosannas as they play, from hearts where hope is springing that night will turn to day. As angels and as Jesus responded to their need, may love, compassion seize us, their cause to intercede.
