When the call of God is sounded like the ram's horn long ago, urging us to come, surrounded by the faithful whom we know, entering God's courts with praise, we our prayer as incense raise, and upon the cross we gaze coming in response to God. Next, the word of God is given, broken bread to feed our souls, word which is itself a leaven to enrich and make us whole; word which comes with driving force, word which right and wrong divorce, bringing us comfort and remorse, spoken from the mouth of God. Left to ponder the invasion of the word of heart and mind, God the Spirit's quick persuasion moves us to respond in kind. Common bread and wine we share, grace of baptism and prayer, others' needs and burdens bear as we pledge ourselves to God! Must we leave the place of meeting where Christ's love and pow'r abound? yes, a silent world lies waiting for the glorious Gospel's sound! So we leave, resolved to be servants, who on bended knee, show Christ's mercy endlessly in obedience to our God.
