Lord God, thou art our maker and our end; from thee we come and to thee we ascend. We have no rest, nor are we ever free until we find our joy and peace in thee. We know we are thine own, and heaven is home, and yet with laggard steps to prayer we come; and, since on others little love we spend, we cannot know thy love which has no end. Lord, give us hope, and courage to believe, to see thy face in Christ and in him live, to learn thy love through Christ who for us died, and find strong faith by walking at his side. In Christ, our hope and glory, give us light, and - after life's last sacrifice - full sight, in death a new beginning, then with thee adoring service, perfect liberty.
