From hearts around the world, O Lord, through centuries of blind discord, there is one prayer which does not cease; the people yearn and grope for peace. Though war and hate have been our lot, the dream, the hope, of peace die not. Let nothing move our hearts from thee, apart from whom no peace can be. Lord, use thy Church to point the way; may we thy clear commands obey: be reconciled, forgive, and bless; may peace proceed from righteousness. Lord, we confess our greed and pride, the scorn of those for whom Christ died, the prejudice, neglect, and hate, the love of wealth and power too great. Grant us our Master's heart and mind, his care for all the poor and blind, for every race, for young and old, despised, rejected, hungry, cold. Let us not lose the vision blest, the dream of peace, the hope, the quest; they gracious will be done each day; thy kingdom come on earth, we pray.
