Strong Word of God, spoken to all, in open love and simple grace, throw down the walls of fear and scorn that still divide the human race. Break down the shell of hardness, Lord, masking our heart's timidity; unprison our dry souls and minds, unshelter us to set us fee. Body of Christ, broken for us, you ancient pain we still renew on this cold crosses of our lives, and, loveless, know not what we do. What other pardon shall we find? Where else true wholeness learn to share than in the broken bread, the wine that universal love declare. Love is the burden we decline, fearing the brokenness, the pain; nerve us to walk compassion's way to bear the wounds of love again. Come, overwhelming power of God; let us be broken if we must, knowing that in our steadfast love new life breaks forth from precious dust. Open the tomb in which we lie dead to the world, ourselves and you; rock back the stone, end death's dark night, break forth in resurrection light.
