Now have you turned your face from us, O God; you breached our walls and made your anger known. Restore our peace; repair our quaking earth; purge out the wine that made us reel and moan. Raise up a sign of hope to quench our grief; come in your strength and give our hearts relief. In sovereign holiness has God declared: “Know that all lands throughout the world are mine (mine to bestow and mine to take away), which for a while to mortals I assign. In every hill and vale I take delight and, calling them by name, declare my right.” Without your leading, we are lost, O God; though you seem distant now, we seek your aid. In mercy turn your face to us once more. Grant us your courage; make us unafraid. No human foes can daunt us or succeed; from God alone we gain the strength we need.
