You that take shelter with the Most High and the Almighty’s shadow claim, say to your refuge and your fortress, “My God, I trust your holy Name.” For God will save you from all danger, from lurking snares and pestilence. Enfolding you with wings of mercy, your God will be your sure defense. You will not fear the nighttime’s terrors or arrows flying through the day, nor dread the plague that prowls in darkness or scourge that stalks its noontime prey. Though many thousand fall beside you, your own life will be spared from harm; but all the wicked will be punished when God acts with a mighty arm. If you have made our God your refuge and the Most High your dwelling place, no dreadful evil can befall you nor any scourge your home disgrace. God will charge angels to protect you, to keep you safe in all your ways, bearing you up on stony footpaths, giving you strength that will amaze. For God has promised, “Those who love me will I deliver if they fall; those who know my Name will be raised up, and I will answer when they call. I will be with them in their trouble, save them, and make their honor grow. With long life will I satisfy them and to them my salvation show.”
