A mother faced the wall and wept to hear the news about her son who held a toy gun in his hand and now was gone. She held her child close in her arms and wept for what would never come, remembering the days of joy that now were gone. She wept alone and said, “No more, no more, no more, this can’t go on. The hate and lies that lead to death must now be gone.” And when she turned to face the crowd, her burning words declared the dawn of liberty and justice born when fear is gone. Another time, another land, a mother wept to see her son, but love that drew her to the cross would lead her on. The love of God shown on the cross transforms the heart and stills the gun as truth reveals that we are one and love leads on.
